Try it once in your life

PIT SEÑOR!!

Over the weekend, Cebu celebrated the 36th Sinulog Festival. It is a dance ritual in honour of the miraculous image of Sr. Sto. Niño. However, for the past few years, it made a real destination for entertainment because of its different rave parties.

Though I’m not really into parties, I decided to try it out and experience what it’s like to be on the streets of Cebu during Sinulog.

I left home way too early to avoid getting stuck in traffic and save myself from walking. It was a clear and sunny day to watch the grand parade and see all the extravagant costumes and floats. You can even dance to the beat together with the street dancers!

Just a few meters away from the Grand Parade, people were starting flock the Juana Osmeña street for the different street foods and street parties. If you are coming to this area, you need to know that you will get wet and dirty. Strangers will put paint on your face or shirt and they’ll start spraying their water guns or beer on you.

It’s not so bad when you know what you’re getting yourself in to. You just have to enjoy the moment and have fun but you shouldn’t forget your common sense and manners during this event. It can create chaos when it gets too far.

Here are my only souvenirs from that day,

My sinulog shirt after a long day of walking and dancing.

It was probably the best sinulog I ever had! I’m still unsure if I want to do it again next year. Haha. But it’s definitely one of those moment where you have to try it at least once in your life. 😉

What about you? Are courageous enough to try something new out of your comfort zone?

Love, J.
